The primary purpose of this event, which is proposed and overseen by Lucrezia Domizio Durini, with the participation of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Small Business and Agriculture of Pescara and the collaboration of Claudio Sarmiento, the former mayor of the town of Bolognano, is to examine anew and remember the famous Discussion held at the Pescara Mercantile Exchange on 12 February 1978 under the title: Foundation for the Rebirth of Agriculture by the German master Joseph Beuys, one of the most emblematic and important figures in the world of art from the second post-war period onward. On that occasion, Beuys presented his FIU, or Free International University, for the first time in Italy, a publication was released under the same title as the discussion and the famous Red Book, THIRD WAY, was printed in Italian.

Joseph Beuys had a deep love for Italy’s Abruzzo Region, and especially the small town of Bolognano, where, during the last 15 years of his life, he worked and made known throughout the world his famous operation Defence of Nature, carried out in close collaboration with Lucrezia De Domizio Durini and documented by the Magic Lens of her late husband Buby Durini. The goal of this anthropological operation was to defend man, the individual, creativity and human values while Safeguarding Nature, all topics currently of great relevance throughout the Planet Earth.

In Bolognano, where the great German artist had his studio, he created the renowned Paradise Plantation, today transformed into THE PLACE OF NATURE, an hypogeum built at the initiative of Lucrezia De Domizio Durini. On 13 May 1984, the famous discussion Defence of Nature was held; on that occasion Beuys planted the First Italian Oak, an evocation of the 7000 Oaks of Kassel, and he was made an Honorary Citizen of Bolognano.

Lucrezia De Domizio Durini conceived of the event Remember Joseph Beuys as a TRIBUTE, held at a distance of 36 years and on the same site, the Mercantile Exchange of Pescara, to the human, charismatic figure of Joseph Beuys, a man, an artist who invented no method, but selflessly devoted his intense existence to improving Society's existing methods.

Performance event on the novel PERCHE by Lucrezia De Domizio Durini

The transubstantiation of the novel into a Performance results in an event of cultural intercommunication in which music and film, images and words, sound and silence form a conceptual, concrete symbiosis of Beuys famous Living Sculpture.

In the course of the performance, the sensitivity and awareness of the audience play an important role, within the context of a freely inspired interpretation.

Musical PERFORMANCE by the composer Marco Rapattoni of Remember Beuys, featuring the favourite compositions of the German Master: L.V. Beethoven, R. Wagner, E. Satie.

The theatrical setting will be brought to life by the historic images of Buby Durini. Maestro Alberto Serrapiglio (bass clarinet) shall make a special appearance, along with figures from a wide variety of disciplines, all in memory of Beuys Voice: Marité Bortoletto, Nausicaa Pizzi, Aldo Roda, Filippo Rolla, Maurizio Ruzzi, Stefano Soddu, Pierparide Tedeschi, Peter Uhlmann, Duilio Zogno and the actress Gaia Riposati.
